Cefalu is a delightful small fishing port and townthat grew up around the cathedral, founded by the Norman Roger II in 1131.Externally, the cathedral is a massive fortress-like structure with twin towerslinked by a double row of arches. Inside are some magnificent mosaics, datingback to 1148. Surrounding the cathedral is a jumble of narrow medieval streetswhich are a delight to stroll around, while down below in the Borgo Marinaroare pretty little fisherman’s houses around the port.
