The hike will begin at an old working farmfound on the rolling orchards of olive trees near La Città Bianca, or The WhiteCity. From there you will descend into an ancient valley where some of theearliest Apulian settlements were founded. You will explore the pre Roman cavesystem and get a glimpse of where some of the local people had been livinguntil the Middle Ages. During the walk you will see a variety of theMediterranean fauna and your guide will be more than happy to explain thenature, history and archaeology of the area during your trek. The terrain ofthe hike is mostly flat and ends with a visit to a 600 year old Masseria thatis still in use today. At the Masseria, you will see how much and how littlethings have changed over the centuries before finally sampling some warmPugliese hospitality from the farm owners themselves. (The actual hiking routewill depend on the time of year and the level of the client. This is an exampleof one of many of hikes we have available in this area.)After the hike, you will go you to thestunning “La Città Bianca” of Ostuni. Your guide will accompany you on afascinating walking tour before taking you to one of our favorite restaurantsfor a traditional lunch. After lunch we will take you back to your hotel.
