From the Villa d’Este’sdock, take the public boat to Como, where you will get the funicular up toBrunate. From there you will have a superb panoramic view of the city of Como.Hike through the hills to San Maurizio, where you will see the Voltalighthouse, named for Alessandro Volta who gave us the electrical term volt.From here there are more breath-taking views and on a very clear day, you caneven see the spires of Milan’s cathedral. The hike then continues to MountPiatto and then descends to Torno, a rare example of a medieval village on thelake.
