Lake Como has avery mild micro climate and this is reflected in the lush vegetation and thesumptuous gardens which were created around the equally luxurious villas thatline the shore. On this tour, you will drive through the charming littlevillages of Laglio and Arcegno and stop at Tremezzo to see the famous VillaCarlotta. The villa was built in the neo-classical style and was bought by aPrussian princess, Carlotta. It houses some beautiful sculptures by Canova,including a very romantic ‘Cupid and Psyche’ but its crowning glory has to bethe terraced gardens, with an outstanding collection of rhododendrons, azaleasand camellias. You will then take the ferry across to Bellagio, quite theprettiest town on the lake, with steep cobbled lanes and delightful littleshops. Nearby is the Villa Melzi with beautiful landscaped gardens and acollection of Egyptian sculpture within the villa.
