At 3323 metres, Mount Etna is the tallest activevolcano in Europe and its brooding presence dominates most of the Ionian coast.Today you will get the chance to experience it close up and see some stunninglandscapes interspersed with lava flows and a wide variety of trees and plants.You will go up to 2000 metres (weather permitting) where you’ll get a splendidpanorama of the Ionian Sea. First stop will be the beautiful gorge discoveredin 1950 in the Alcantara Valley and then the little village of Zafferana Etnea.Volcanic soils are incredibly fertile and on the lower slopes you will seeextensive vineyards and orchards.
