Sicily produces some very fine wines and one of themost famous wineries was founded by the Planeta family in 1995. They have fivewineries in total but by far and away the most picturesque is the Ulmo winery,housed near a 16th century farmhouse. It is on the banks of theArancio Lake, near the town of Sambuca di Sicilia and is surrounded byvineyards and an ancient olive grove. You will be able to see the fermentationvats and the barrels where the wines are matured. The vineyard specialises inthe production of white wines, Alastro, Cometa and Chardonnay.
