Today’s tour starts in thetown of Impruneta, on the edge of the Chianti region of Tuscany. Situatedroughly 35 minutes from Florence, this little hill town is synonymous withpottery and some of the finest artisans of the area. You will visit a very oldfamily firm noted for its production of vases and decorative wall reliefs suchas grapes, pomegranates, angels and cupids, Della Robbia garlands etc. Therewill also be a visit to a leather handbag factory and, time permitting, aworkshop producing straw bags. Lunch will be in Greve, another hill town in theheart of the Chianti region, where Giovanni Verrazzano was born and latersailed to North America. After lunch, a drive through the splendid Chianticountryside will bring you to a private Renaissance castle where time appearsto have stood still and you will be able to taste the wine and olive oilproduced on the estate.
