The beautiful town of Sorrento, perched over the Bay of Naples is the gateway to the Amalfi Coast. Throughout history, famous writers and poets such as Lord Byron, John Keats and Percy Shelley have fallen in love with its charm, waxing lyrical about its beauty. Its historic center is a rabbit warren of tiny alleyways, punctuated by café-lined squares and beautiful ancient churches. We’ll wander through its atmospheric streets, learning all about its history and architecture, whilst discovering why the lemon has long been a symbol of the city. The cliff-side citrus groves surrounding Sorrento are home to some of the oldest lemon growing areas in the whole of Italy and its sweet lemon blossom scent envelopes the town in a heady perfume. One of the best and most famous lemon products the town produces is of course limoncello, a sweet and tangy lemon liqueur. We’ll make sure to spend some time at the end of tour visiting the shops so you can buy a bottle to take home with you.
