Visit Venice’s most famous islands, Murano,Burano and Torcello, to learn about their importance in history and trade. Youwill be met at your hotel by your private guide, boat and driver for this halfday tour. The first stop will be Murano, famous around the world since the1200s for glass making. You will visit one of Venice’s most important glassfactories where you will have a private glass making demonstration. Then therewill be a tour of the showroom with works from glass masters, such asSignoretto and Schiavon. After Murano, the tour will continue to the island ofBurano. Burano, a fisherman island, is well-known for its brightly coloredhouses and handmade lace. You will get to see how the lace is still made byhand using antique methods. The last stop is Torcello, the first islandto be inhabited in the lagoon. Here you will learn about the history of theisland and see its beautiful cathedral with its magnificent mosaics dating backto the 1100s. You will also see the “Locanda Cipriani” where Ernest Hemingwaystayed when he was in Venice and where he wrote “Farewell to Arms.”
